Let's Do Away With These 5 Body Shaming Remarks

Inspired by body favorable activist Virgie Tovar and this recent article on Mic, "5 Body Shaming Comments That Everyone Should Cease Saying This Summer" I determined to write my own list of body shaming remarks that naturists are tired of hearing. This list is all about how folks shame the naked body, especially the female body. It's also about how naturists are shamed for daring to be naked and accept themselves as they are.
1. Why are folks at the bare beach never the individuals you want to see naked?
I brought up this remark in our 10 common myths about naturism, but here it's again, as it's everything related to body shaming.
Naturism is not about looking pretty for anyone. Nobody (unless they are exhibitionists) goes to the nude beach to be your eye candy. If you go to a unclothed beach or nudist resort simply to look at bodies you find appealing, then your creepy behavior is called voyeurism.
For quite a while, marketers have been using the notion of the beach body or "bikini body" to encourage specific attractiveness standards and sell products. Those products are somehow assumed to make that specific body type appear attainable to consumers.
The female plage body is slim, toned and tanned with perky breasts and a curvy, solid buttocks. The male sand body equivalent is slim, tan and muscular.
The view that individuals need to pursue and achieve a particular body to visit and love the beach is total bullshit.

While the strand body is all about looking attractive in a swimsuit, the media and marketing are just as good at telling people what they need certainly to look like to be nude in public. Whether it is indicated nudity or full frontal, it's generally a female model with the best body" and flawless skin trying to sell us something or catch the male gaze.
Sexualized nudity is employed to sell. But in advertisements there is only one version of sexy and yet again, it is nobody's job or responsibility to meet someone else's or society's notion of alluring!
We all just need to enjoy the fucking plage.
2. Naturists are overweight and consequently boosting an unhealthy lifestyle.
In a recent blog post, I explained how well-being worries about strangers are actually just another type of fat-shaming.
Someone's weight will not define health. Being fat does not abruptly require someone to divulge their health issues to anyone. Most naturists understand and respect others' right to privacy in regards to well-being in addition to the right to do what you desire with your own body.
Being fat or unhealthy is not a failure.
At some point, female beauty standards started dictating that women must be hairless. While men's hair can be an indication of manliness or maleness, female body hair is considered disgusting, filthy and unfeminine.
In the past few years there's undoubtedly been a rise in body-positive / feminist activism motivating women to grow their hair out (IF they need to) and to not feel embarrassed about it.

Still, some people feel the need to inflict their own preferences or shame others for having hair.
This can be the FKK naturist doctrine on body hair: Everyone has the right to do whatever the fuck they want with their body hair, whether it's on their armpits, genitals, legs, arms, whatever.
Got a private opinion on body hair? Great, keep it yourself and do what you desire with your own body hair.
4. Naked folks? Genitals? Ew, I don't need to see that.
Body shame continues to be a huge issue as it pertains to particular body parts and their natural functions. girls naked cigarette smoking beach have those old puritan religious values that held the human body to be obscene.
This dilemma can also be tied up with sexual shame. Folks are taught to hide their sex organs. In schools, most are still taught to dismiss their sexual urges with abstinence only sex education. Students learn about their sexual parts in school via anatomical drawings. They're left to figure what real naked bodies appear to be. Or they get an entirely unrealistic notion from Internet porn.
And so, http://nudissex.com . The disgust individuals feel about their own bodies is projected onto others.
There is a simple option for those who do not desire to see: Just. Don't. Look.
5. Women's breasts are sexual, so women should not be walking around topless.
Women's breasts are not sex organs. Their primary function is to feed babies.
Do some folks derive sexual pleasure from their breasts? Absolutely. Lots of folks also derive sexual pleasure from their feet. And yet we have not prohibited feet from being seen in public.
Women's breasts are constantly sexualized and objectified for gain. Policemen arrest and shame girls for attempting to love a park while topfree the same way men do. People sexualize and shame the bodies of little girls by making them cover up from a young age.

The actual reason girls can not walk around topfree like guys, in most areas, is pure sexism.
The Free the Nipple movement has drawn a gigantic amount of focus for this equality issue. Yet the law still lags behind, and attitudes still need to change.
Here's an insightful quotation from Laura Dodsworth, author of Bare Reality, about the female body getting censored and shamed: It Is not what we should show of our bodies, but who gets to decide what may be shown, in what manner and where, that's finally revealing of women's location in the world.
So that is my short list! Please share in the opinions.
